Cheap Baby Furniture - Graco Lauren Dropside Convertible Crib

It must be amazing when you know that’s you are expecting a new baby into your family. You could begin building your bound with your little one with start thinking of everything his need, such as baby furniture. It’s very excited to shopping all the baby needs especially for the baby nursery; consequently you have to spend a lot of money for these. Don’t panic! Actually, you can put together a gorgeous nursery that’s both safe and practical without spending a lot of cash at all.

We all know that from the first moments of the baby’s life, we need some baby furniture, such as the baby crib, baby dresser and changing table. To save your money, you can purchase the necessary baby furniture gradually. You can purchase the baby crib first and some of the other baby furniture you can buy later.

Crib, Dresser and Changing Table

It’s a good idea to purchase cribs which can be changed from a crib into a bed safe for a toddler and then converted to a bed for a school child. It’s more expensive at first, but saver in the long run. It’s better than you buy a bassinet or cradle that can use for a few months only.

You can also buy a used crib for your baby room. But always check the crib is not damaged and all the parts are working properly. Safety is very important thing when you purchase a baby crib new or used.

Dresser or drawer is something which is not an emergency thing but it is important for storing the cute baby clothes, accessories and other things. If you think a chest of drawers might not accommodate all the things of your child that grow fast, you can get a big wardrobe.

Changing table is very useful and convenient for a baby during the first years. Later you can sell it at a reasonable price.

Think Multi-Functional

On the market you can choose a changing table that also functions as a dresser. Choose a changing table that has a lot of drawers that are a practical size to hold as much baby clothes. Several changing tables even come with a little closet on the bottom where you can hang your baby’s clothes once he or she is a little older.

Used Furniture

Don’t be afraid to purchase used furniture, especially if those furniture looks quite new and fresh, some scratches can be easily painted.

Also it is possible to pay for second hand furniture, it possesses three advantages: good looking, steady and cheap.

Cheap Baby Furniture

Another way to save on your baby’s furniture is go to the clearance sale at many department stores, outlet store, auction and online store.

Things You Should Know About Baby Safety Products

By Yenie Swandari

When you look for baby product, the baby safety is very important. New parent usually try to find leaflets, brochures of essential products that they will need to purchase.

Here are we give you several tips to keep your baby safe with the Baby Safety Product.

Safety while Sleeping

Try to find the latest new cribs model which has the best safety standards. Consider that cribs must meet federal and ASTM standards. The mattress has to fits snugly into the crib; the distance between the slats is no more than 2-3/8 inches and the side rail is at least 26 inches from the mattress.

A baby monitor is the best devices invented for parents that will give you such composure because it allow you to hear or see your baby in your baby’s room from anywhere in your house.

Make sure they sleep do not use pillows, blanket or loose toys, as these can easily cover your baby’s face, resulting in possible breathing difficulties.

Digital Nursery Room Grobag Egg Thermometer Light

Make sure that your baby‘s room in an appropriate temperature. There are a variety of baby thermometers offered which clearly show the optimum temperature for your baby’s nursery. Don’t use polyester sheets, if the room is quite warm. Also make sure that you have plenty of warm slick suits or rompers, and take care that your new baby’s head is always covered in case the temperature drops too low.

Safety while go on the Road

Car seat is vital baby safety products and it is must have product to purchase this before your baby born. Then make sure your car seat is installed properly and it meets safety guidelines.

Your best bet is to buy a brand new car seat. If you buy a used car seat, make sure you know the history of car seat; is that has been involved in a crash or has structurally broken. Double check that the car seat you buy is up-to-date. The baby should ride in a rear-facing seat until they are over one year old or at least 20 ponds, when they can be switched to a forward facing seat.

Safety in their activity

While your baby grows, you will need a number of baby safety products to help protect your baby from the various dangers. They always want to explore and touch or grab everything in sight. Baby gates will keep your babies safe in a large enough to support them to explore, but confined enough to keep them safe.

You also need baby safety product such as door stoppers, fireguards, electrical output plugs, and the like.

If you have decided to bottle feed, Use BPA-free plastic bottles. Much better use glass bottles: Canada has banned the use of plastic bottles due the possible content of Bisphenol A (BPA) in polycarbonate bottles, and many environmental organizations are suggesting that other countries should do the same due to its possible adverse effect on the endocrine system, responsible for the regulation of hormones in the body.

You will also need to make sure that you have a way of sterilizing the bottles, and it may well be advisable to practice sterilizing and making up the bottles of milk.

You must be excited about decorating a nursery, if you expecting a baby. Especially, for a baby boy, you have to start

Baby Boy Crib Bedding - Constructor

decorating with “a man” ambiance. Here are some ideas to help you to decorating baby boy crib bedding.

First, you can choose from many unique and exciting themes to create a comfortable crib and the place where he learn through sight recognition with the multi-colored items around the nursery. Some good themes usually suitable for baby boy nursery like a space theme, a sports theme, a car theme, a wild jungle theme, a constructor theme or a cowboy theme, but use your imagination!

Then, you need to choose the colors and the furniture for your new nursery. For a boy’s room, strong colors or darker colors are usually very appropriate. And if you’re going to use darker colors for the walls, you should choose the furniture in a lighter color. For example, a sport theme with green walls and white furniture would go great. You can also add some themed murals such as a cloud and plane stick on, or a baseball mural.

Add some storage space with small containers, changing table, a dresser, mounted shelves, and storage boxes. In fact, it easier by finding furniture set that includes a crib, changing table, a dresser, and possibly a small table. If you buy several pieces together, it’s automatically matching and can also save you money.

Then get stuffed animals, toys, teddy bears, and essential baby items like pacifiers, diaper-rash cream, diapers, etc. Plush toys are a great way to make a child’s room their own. You can add another toy that matches your room’s theme, like some colorful balls for sport theme. You can even add a multicolored growth chart so you can track your new child as they grow up.

What to Consider Before Buy Luxury Baby Bedding

By Yenie Swandari

First thing you have to do when buy luxury baby bedding is decide what style and fabric you like. Then mix and match the colors and pattern on your baby’s bed in the same color scheme. For example, different solid materials combine with flower fabrics.

You should consider finding and choosing which fiber is best for your baby bedding;

Cotton – organdy, flannel, sateen or percale. It is a natural fiber that breathes well, easy to machine wash and to dry and it tends to be long-lasting.

Wool – jersey, flannel, felt, gabardine, merino or tweed. It is another natural fiber, soft, durable and usually very warm. But it should be dry-cleaned except the manufacturer’s label says otherwise.

Linen – linen, venise or damask. It is a great fabric to use during the summer as it stays cool in warm weather. To avoid excessive shrinkage Dry-clean it.

Silk – silk satin, chiffon, brocade, organza, charmeuse or doupioni. Silk is a natural protein fiber that is very smooth to the touch. It gives a very luxurious look and feel to your baby bedding. Always follow the instructions of the manufacturer’s label, when wash your silk bedding.

Synthetic fiber – nylon, acrylic, acetate and polyester. It’s not as comfortable as natural fiber.

The colors like pink, blues, light yellow and lilacs are frequently used in luxury baby’s rooms, nurseries and baby bedding. The pastel colors will give the baby a relaxing feel and they can be mixed with different patterns and colors. The classic colors like blue and white also can be combined with any decor. It is better if you choose nursery bedding collections that come with harmonized accessories.

When buying luxury baby bedding, usually has a mild crisp feel on it because manufacturers use starches or stiffening products on the material to help it stay wrinkle-free and look new. So, be sure you wash it before use it and it will become softer and even more comfortable over time.

You can save your money if you create your own baby nursery theme or find luxury baby bedding on clearance.

Finally, make sure that the baby bedding materials are flame resistant by read the labels seriously.

Decorating baby’s room is fun, because it’s a highly creative process, which gives you an opportunity to indulge your imagination and show off your decorating skills. It is also a wonderful way to feel close to your baby even before he or she arrives.

Since in most babies’ rooms the crib takes center stage, bedding is important. The right choice of crib bedding will set up the tone for the entire room.

Baby Girls Crib Bedding Sets: Hottest Trends

Jojo Design, Pink Toile Crib

A gorgeous example of a gender-specific crib bedding set for baby girls is the 4-piece Pink Polka Dots Crib Bedding Set from Brandee Danielle. The design is unique because the color combination ensures that although the look is definitely girly, it’s not cutesy or overly pink. Combining brown and green polka dots with the pink polka dots creates a classic, timeless look. The set is reasonably priced at $159.99.

Another beautiful and very affordable option for baby girls is the Pink Toile 9-Piece Crib Set from JoJo Designs ( $169.99).
Baby Boys Crib Bedding Sets: Hottest Trends

The classic theme for boys is a sports theme, including the All Star 9-Piece Crib Set ($179.99 ) and the Playball 9-Piece Crib Set ($129.99) both by JoJo Designs. When you add accessories such as the All Star Hamper or the PlayBall Lamp Shade, you create the perfect look for your little ball player.

If you’re looking for a classic “boyish” look for your nursery, you will LOVE the 9-piece Wild West Crib Bedding Set by JoJo Designs. With classic “boy colors” – dark red, dark blue, brown and white, and fun patterns, this set is an effortless way to announce “I’m expecting a baby boy!”

Gender-Neutral Crib Bedding Sets

Brandee Danielle, On The Farm

What if you don’t know the baby’s gender, or expect to have another baby later on? Sometimes your best choice is a gender-neutral theme.

If you’re looking for a theme that would work for baby girls as well as for baby boys, you can’t go wrong with an animal theme. On The Farm Crib Bedding Set by Brandee Danielle ($279.95 – 4 piece) is a great example – it’s perfect for both genders. It’s extremely cute, the colors are appealing and soft, and the fun pattern of farm and farm animals will be hugely entertaining for your baby as he or she becomes a little older.

My absolute favorite gender-neutral crib bedding set is the Jungle Safari 9 Piece Crib Set by JoJo Designs. For the very low price of $129.99 you get a 9 (nine!) piece crib bedding set that can be used for both genders and passed on to another baby. The animals on this theme are simply adorable.

Making the Right Choice Between a New or Used Baby Crib

By Arindam Chattopadhyaya

If you an expecting or a new mom, chances are that, you want a perfect crib for your baby’s nursery. You might be unsure of buying a new crib or accepting the offers of friends and family members who might have a nice but used piece at home. The list of baby items, which is needed to be bought, just seems endless!

Used Baby Crib

The bottom line is that- the choice between a new or used crib will not affect the baby’s love for you. As long as you are giving all to their care; as long as they feel loved and nurtured, they won’t be at the least bothered by your choice. Basically, whatever crib you use-a new or an old one- it should be safe to use for your precious bundle of joy.

If you buy a new crib (which is advised by most organizations linked with baby furniture safety) – it is sure to meet the minimum government safety requirements. Look out for products which either display JPMA seal of approval or the BS ‘Kite’ mark, as they have been tested painstakingly to meet all the safety requisites. A safe crib must have a firm, well-fitting mattress and no misplaced or cracked planks/slats. Also, the head or foot slat should have no cutouts. These checks can also be made for ‘handed-down’ cribs, besides other tests, which make sure that the crib and bedding are safe for your baby :

The bars should be spaced out at a width of not more than 2 3/8″ (breadth of a soda can). This prevents the baby’s head from getting stuck between them.

The crib should have no flaky or loose paint.

Any high posts that the baby may catch its clothes on must be changed.

Any wobbling should be eliminated by making sure that all joints are unyielding.

The lowering and raising of the drop sides should preferably be controlled by one hand. The sides should totally lock when raised.

The top of the side bar should be 22″ over the mattress.

It would be best to replace the mattress in an old crib with one which is firm, clean and fits snugly.

Bedding must confirm to fire safety rulings. Using sheets and blankets in bedding is best for babies under 12 months as quilts, duvets, cushions etc., put the baby under the danger of overheating. To guarantee the right temperature, a room thermometer can be kept.

Do not position the crib close to lamps, curtains, or any furniture that encourage climbing.

If fitting bumpers ensure that the strings are concealed and secure.

Do not buy used cribs from stores where you cannot verify its manufacturer or user history.

Choosing the right crib ensures not only safety for the baby but also peace of mind for the parents.

Cradle, Crib Or Bassinet? How Do You Decide?

By Jessica Chamberlain

One decision all new parents have to make is where will their new bundle of joy sleep once home from the hospital. Do you choose a cradle, bassinet, crib, pack n play or convertible crib? How do you choose? Use the descriptions below to help you, the parent, decide what is best for your little one.

Cradle

Cradles – All newborn babies love the soothing, rocking motion of a cradle because it reminds them of the safe and secure feeling they had in the womb. If you choose a cradle make sure you have a firm mattress that fits nice and tight inside the cradle and the safety feature of locking the cradle in a stationary position rather than rock.

Bassinets – Bassinets are great because they are portable and they can be dressed up adorably to match your decor of your master bedroom or the nursery. Just make sure that you have a crib or portable crib ready when your child outgrows the bassinet.

Portable cribs like Pack N Plays – Portable cribs are perfect for sleepovers at Grandmas as well as for breastfeeding moms for night time feedings. You can also consider a co-sleeper for breastfeeding moms. Portable cribs pack up for easy storage and travel. They can also serve as a safe and protected play yard for your baby during the day.

Cribs – A standard crib has either one side that drops or both sides drop. One thing to consider is will you want a convertible crib that will convert to a toddler bed and then to a full size bed instead of buying a crib now, a toddler bed later and then a regular sized bed for your child. Round cribs are becoming popular because it can be in the center of the room or corner. Canopy cribs have four posts that hold up a frame that you place a fabric canopy on. This makes the nursery seem more elegant and gives it a classic look.

Bassinet

Once you find the crib you like make sure it meets all the safety regulations. Here are things to look for in a crib:

The cribs slats should be no more than 2 3/8″ apart. That way they cannot stick their heads through them and get stuck.

Make sure the crib is securely put together and has no risk of collapsing on your baby.

When you buy a mattress make sure it fits snugly into the crib. You do not want a space of more than the width of two adult fingers between the crib and the mattress.

Never use a pillow in the crib due to the possibility of suffocating your kids.

Keep stuffed animals and excess blankets out of the crib as well because they can also cause suffocation.

If you are going to have decorative bumpers in your crib be sure to remove them once your baby can kneel or stand so they do not use them to help themselves climb out.

By JB Anthony

Here are the absolute top five furniture pieces that you should have in your nursery.

Crib

Whether you’re planning to co-sleep with your baby at night, you would still need to have a sturdy and safe baby crib. The crib is the only piece of furniture on which you may safely leave your baby unattended for a short period of time.

Cribs these days have been made based on government guidelines on product safety. Keep your ears and eyes peeled for online news on recent product recalls.

Portable Crib/ Playpen

Baby Playpen

Having a nursery crib is one thing, while having a portable crib or a portable playpen is another. Portables like these would come in handy for parents who would like to enjoy family trips and picnics with their babies.

Similar to nursery cribs, any standard portable cribs are also made with safety features in mind. Do remember though that like standard cribs, portables may also be recalled if they have features that may still be improved on. Some parents also use portable cribs as their main nursery crib.

Cabinet/ Changing Table

A new occupant in the house like your new baby would also require new storage space for clothes, diapers and other miscellaneous items. A sturdy cabinet with back brackets would be a good piece of furniture to store baby items in. To save you some cash, you should consider buying a baby cabinet that can double as a changing table. This way, you only have to buy one piece of furniture that can perform two functions. A good design would be a piece with a changing table on top and open shelves or drawers below to hold baby items. The top storage compartment could hold diapers and other changing articles to make baby changing an easier chore.

High Chair

As soon as your baby finds out that he can sit and move around while feeding, things can begin to get really messy. You don’t want to forever keep chasing after your baby. This is why you need a good high chair for baby meal time. Pick one with a wide sturdy base to prevent tipping accidents.

Toy Box

Teaching your child how to pick his toys up after playing should start as soon as he knows where to find his toys or as soon as he can pick them up. Pick a toy box that doesn’t have a heavy lid. It should also ideally have a lock in place spring to prevent the lid from falling on your child. Other safe designs include the open storage piece that is easy for your baby to use.

By Terez Howard

When should you move your baby from his baby bassinet or co-sleeper to a crib?

Baby Crib

First, if your infant is comfortable in a crib, then make the switch right away, so said an article I read. Some babies may enjoy this type of sleeping right from the start, rather than sleeping in a cozy baby bassinet. There is no need to wait for age or size to determine the move since a crib is
designed for small infants up to toddler-age children.

However, if your baby seems to be snoozing fine without a crib, then the following are a few things to keep in mind when making the change. Most babies outgrow bassinets at 3 months of age. So, if your baby is reaching this age, it’s time to make the transition to a crib.

Once your baby can move around and/or sit up, a bassinet is too small and dangerous for him. An infant has no concept of gravity and does not yet possess the skill to hold himself up with falling out of a bassinet, which is not constructed for mobile infants.

Do not put pillows and stuffed animals in a crib to fill it out since these items are SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) risks. Infants have been known to suffocate to death in soft pillows and toys.

To make the transition from a baby bassinet to crib a smoother one, get your child used to being in a large crib. Perhaps let him play in his crib for a while during the day. The article recommends letting him watch you tidy up from his crib.

How to Choose a Baby Crib Mattress

By Spencer Ray

For the parents to be, you should be concerned about your babies sleep. After all, a baby that sleeps well is usually a happy baby! Here is what to look for when choosing which baby crib mattress to buy so that your baby will have a good (and safe) nights sleep.

Firmness:

You want to choose a mattress that is firm. Not only will your baby sleep more soundly on a firm mattress (although possibly counterintuitive), but your baby will also be safer. A softer mattress can be the cause of suffocation and can certainly be a safety hazard. If its too soft, the babies mouth and nose could become engulfed in the fabric.

Fit:

Although this is usually not an issue, you want to make sure that your new mattress actually fits your crib. Most cribs come in standard sizes these day; however, it is important to double check. If the mattress is too small, this could pose a safety issue for your baby. The mattress should fit snugly against the crib.

Covers:

Mattress covers can also pose a risk of suffocation to your baby. Make sure that your cover is made from quality material that cannot be easily torn or punctured. This will prevent your baby from trying to crawl underneath.

Overall, keep safety in the forefront of your mind when shopping around for a new baby crib mattress. In particular make sure it is firm, that it fits, and that your have a durable mattress cover.

History Of Baby Cribs

By Ursula Ansbach

Baby cribs, being the child’s first bed, have a most interesting history! The first types of baby cribs were a small swinging or rocking bed known as a cradle. Before the colonies were settled by Europeans, Native Americans cradled their babies in a multitude of different styles, almost as diverse as our modern baby cribs. There were bark cradles, skin cradles, lattice cradles, board cradles, basket cradles and many more. Swaddling (wrapping the baby tightly in cloth or skins) was a favorite of many tribes since this was seen as a safety standard. Many Navajos still use a traditional board cradle that swaddles the baby to keep it safe and protected.

Examples also exist of cribs that represent “great beds of state” for royal babies. These fancy cribs were richly carved and furnished with elaborate and costly hangings. Many cradles were designed so they could rock easily, with one mechanical invention claiming that the cradle would self rock for an hour and a half! Once the baby was too large for the cradle it graduated to a trundle bed. The name is derived from the utility of this bed which was made to fit easily under the parent’s bed and thus conserve space. The baby crib came into existence as homes became larger, during the 1800′s, and could accommodate their size. Baby cribs were also passed on through generations since they were constructed of solid, durable wood found locally. If you run across such a crib today you will marvel at its sturdiness. The basic shape and design of the crib has not changed much since the 19th century although we have an ongoing improvement in design as well as an ever increasing demand of higher safety standards . We urge parents to keep a close eye out for safety, both when purchasing a new crib and to maintain an existing crib.

Make sure that the baby bedding and crib for your new baby are safe

There will be plenty of people queuing up to give you their old nursery furniture and crib bedding when you are pregnant. I know that we belong to a throwaway society these days but there is something about our baby things that makes us want to hold on to them. Be grateful for these offerings because babies are an expensive business but make sure it’s all safe before you use it.

Is it a cot, cradle or crib?

There is a special something about your baby’s first bed, whether it’s a Moses basket or a crib (cot or cradle in the US) or a cot (US – crib). You can spend many hours lovingly re-lining and making drapes for a cradle that you’ve been given and you can check whether it’s safe for baby at the same time.

Checking baby bedding and crib for safety

If your cradle was made of wicker make sure that there are no broken or loose bits of wood and that all the joints are tight. You will probably need to replace the mattress because that’s the one thing that may not have survived very well. When fitting the drapes make sure that there are no loose threads or pieces of material that the baby might grab a hold of and shove into their mouth.

Buy new bedding for crib if you can

Most organisations that are concerned with the safety of baby furniture, such as the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association in the USA and British Standards in the UK say that you should buy new furniture and bedding if it’s possible. The products displaying either the JPMA seal of approval or the BS ‘Kite’ mark, have been tested that they meet all the appropriate safety requirements.

There are some checks you can do on cribs, to ensure that your baby is safe and happy. Hopefully the baby will spend a lot of time on it’s own in the crib so it’s worth spending some time looking it over.

Baby bedding crib safety checklist

Here are a few points to remember when checking your baby equipment for safety:

Make sure there is no chipped, loose or toxic lead paint.

To stop baby’s head from getting between the bars of the crib make sure that the bars are closer than 2 and 3/8 inches apart.

The header and footer boards of the crib should be solid with no holes for baby to get into trouble with. Make sure that there are no posts to catch baby’s clothes on.

Tight joints and fixings will prevent the crib from wobbling.

Make sure that the side rail raising and lowering mechanism of the crib can be managed with one hand and is fully secure when raised.

Ensure that the top of the side rail is at least 22 inches above the crib mattress.

The mattress should be firm and clean. I think that I would always buy a new mattress for a new baby. Make sure that it fits snugly in the crib.

All bedding must conform to the fire safety regulations.

Make sure that bumper strings are hidden and secure.

Bedding for cribs: Never use duvets, quilts, sheepskin or pillows for babies under 12 months old as they can overheat. Use a combination of sheets and blankets and place a thermometer in the room.

Never put the crib next to cords, lamps, window blinds/curtains, or furniture that the baby could climb. You will be surprised at how well they can climb.

Have a safe, wonderful and fun time with your baby and remember that they grow up quickly.
